Make Yourself Proud, Make Your Child Proud
Now, more than ever, our idea of a Cooperative School and Community should be prevalent and practiced in all schools. With parents suddenly finding themselves having to “home-school” their children, it’s important to remember a parent’s role in the everyday Cooperative School Community. By following these guidelines, you can not only make your child proud but make yourself proud of the image you’re portraying to your child.
To be more specific, a Cooperative School Community is “one in which all members- school board, superintendents, principals, staff, students, parents, and others- work together for the purpose of developing well-educated, curious, responsible and considerate students.” So how can parents continue this focus at home?
As a parent, it’s important to contribute your own skills and talents towards the development of your child. If they see you excelling at a special skill, it can encourage them to do their best! It’s important to hold your child to high standards, both academically and socially, and to continuously acknowledge their value. When dealing with an issue or problem, engaging respectfully and practicing listening skills is an important trait to show your children. Again, they are looking toward you for guidance!
And finally, you should continuously demonstrate good manners, civility, and civic involvement which are important messages for your children to learn and put into practice. By placing a high value on these suggestions, parents can contribute to the overall success of their student’s educational journey!
